Mother and child cheetah explore the Mara

Cheetah mothers select a lair – either a rocky outcrop or marshy area with tall grass – in which they’ll have and raiseĀ to their cubs. Mothers only leave the cubs to hunt, before returning to nurse the young.

The cheetah is the fastest land animal in the world and can reach speeds of up to 70 miles per hour.
