King penguins are the second largest penguin – the largest being the emperor penguin. Unlike the emperor penguin, king penguins don’t live in Antarctica itself, but on the sub-Antarctic islands such as the Falklands, Macquarie Island and – like the ones pictured – on the South Georgia archipelago.
